Exploring Aging - Creating New Beginnings - An Experiential Class for Baby Boomer Women
Ruth Subrin, M.A. & Anne Galbraith, M.A., A.T.R., L.M.F.T.

The purpose of this course is to help Baby-boomer women, born between 1946 and 1964, explore issues affecting them as they age. Through discussion and the use of a variety of modalities (guided imagery, art, meditation, storytelling, poetry, creative expression) class members will be invited to explore both positive and negative images connected with a ging. We will talk about strategies to help navigate through this time of life; a journey that can be filled with spiritual and psychological growth.

Class discussions will include topics such as nurturing your inner self, new beginnings, achieving goals, life lessons, what dreams try to tell us, accessing our creative powers, coping with stress, and relationships.

Introduction to Art Psychotherapy
Presented by Robin Vance, M.A., A.T.R.-BC, M.F.T.

Many of our clients, especially agency populations impacted by trauma, have reason not to trust verbal exchanges. Art therapy gives them another means of communication with which to acknowledge, process and express feelings and thoughts. The therapeutic use of media can increase our clients’ sense of control and capacity for problem solving. This experiential introduction to art psychotherapy will introduce you to some art therapy interventions and show you how/when/why to use them. They can be used with both individuals and groups. Participants are invited to bring in client art work and/or issues for confidential group discussion at the end of the workshop. A $5.00 lab fee, paid to instructor, will cover art supplies.
